Three months into the new year...

Happy 2012!
Maybe I should write 2013 so that I can be ahead of the game for once...
Anyways.
2012 has been good to me so far.
Right now I am just enjoying training, being with friends, and slowly building that quite confidence that comes with fitness and consistency.
Taking it back a bit...
In the fall I ran with the Gryphons Varsity Cross Country team. I don't mean to brag, but we are pretty awesome.
After finishing my cross season, I started to get into a good rhythm with the RTC squad, and the pool and the bleachers above the pool started to feel like a hot and sweaty home.
In January I went to Maui to train with some of the best U23 Canadian women as well as THE woman, one super-awesome-long-course-legend who likes to hide from the snow in the southern states, and a lively french-irish-canadian coach who so far is unmatched for patience and insightful sayings.

I came back from Maui a bit fitter and a bit stronger, and then went head first into full training again with the RTC.
The tail end of winter got the best of me and I had a wonderful fall on the ice while walking home from the pool the day before I left for Clermont, Florida to race a continental cup. The race did not go quite as planned, but it was great to shake off the rust and get a race in the early season.
2012 has also brought some exciting new partnerships, and not only am I excited to once again be aligned with Asics for all of my footwear and running needs, but I am also extremely fortunate to be supported by a bike shop in Ottawa called Cyclelogik. It is a really down-to-earth shop with experienced and knowledgable staff. They have some sweet bikes on display as well as a newly renovated spinning room in the back that is a great place for a workout. Even if you aren't a triathlon / cycling / cycle cross / mulitsports fan (which, I believe, by definition makes you crazy) there is a relaxed sitting area and a sweet coffee shop that serves local and fresh products in the front of the store. I am not a caffeine addict but I hear that the beverages are quite satisfying. Check them out! http://www.cyclelogik.com/
Back at it now, training hard and putting in the time. Let the corn grow.
